In the struggle which Darwin so aptly labeled ìthe survival of the fittest, Homo Sapiens has taken a significant lead over the other species. We have claimed for ourselves the right to submit and manipulate life forms that are useful or essential to our own survival. We have created justifications for this in many forms, ranging from religion, via health and wellbeing, to economics. We believe we have earned the right to dominate. “Greenhouses” explores artificial worlds where this right is exercised every day. If microchip factories are the cathedrals of industrial production, greenhouses are its village chapels. The worshiping is mundane and the congregations are small but the services are performed with similar intensity each day.
